My Dream School

II1
My Class 2 pupils have taken part in this year's national contest My Dream School organised by Novi Logos, Klett and Freska.

First, we talked about schools, different subjects and classrooms. I asked them to share with the others what their dream school would be like. Then, in pairs or individually, they have drawn a room in their dream school.

Finally, we organised the drawings on large pieces of kraft paper, 1 for each class.

As I have been informed, all the works impressed the jury, but the board game of Class II1 won the extra prize - a blue bag with a green T-shirt, a notebook, a green pen and a diploma for each child.

This is my town

My Class 2 pupils have recently learned the names of different places in a town, such as: school, toy shop, pet shop, hospital, police station and others.

Last lesson we decided to bring empty biscuits packaging of different sizes, wrap the boxes with coloured or white paper and make a model town.

All the buildings were later exhibited in the school hall.

My Dream Job

Think about what you would like to do in the future. Why would you like to do that job? What kind of person do you need to be to do this job well? What are its good and bad sides? etc.

My dream job is to be an artist.
For that job I must be very creative. It does not matter if I am good at drawing or not, but creativity is very important.
I want to do it because I really like drawing. But, art does not include just drawing. For example, photography.  I think that is a very interesting job, but being an artist is better for me.
The good thing about this job is that I will do what I enjoy doing. It does not seem pretty hard for me.
But, the bad thing is that I must follow someone's request. For example, for one person I would have to draw an animated character and for another a realistic person.
I would really like to do this job because I think I am a very creative person, so It will suit me.

Aleksandra Bajić, VI1

When I grow up, I would like to be a journalist. It is a perfect job for me. I love talking a lot and I am very curious. That is why this is a real job for me.
The good side of this business is that you can meet new people, new cultures and different ways of living. You can find out more about some people by interviewing them. You can also find out how people live in other parts of the country and even the world. Thanks to this job, you can learn lots of new things that you have not known before.
The bad side of this job is the lies. Journalists often write false information about some celebrities. Sometimes they know that they write too many lies, but they are not interested in it. They do it only because they have been told so. I would not want to write lies. I want to write some texts about healthy lifestyles, sports, athletes and how important exercise is.

Aleksandra Došen, VI3

I love animals. My favourite animal is a dog. As a little girl, I grew up with a dog. My first dog was Chris. He was a breed of the Rottweiler. I loved him. Chris and I would always play together in the garden. Dad could leave me alone with him because he knew Chris would keep me safe. Unfortunately, Chris died when he was eleven because of illness. I was very sad. I wanted to find out what disease it was and why he died. Since then, I have wanted to be a vet.
A vet is a great job. I want to be a vet for dogs, so I can help them when they are ill, save their lives, fix their broken legs or something else. I can also spend time with my favourite animals and meet new breeds of dogs. I feel good when I see a healthy and strong dog and it is the most beautiful thing when  the owner of that dog is happy that his pet is alive. It is also a well-paid job.
The bad thing about this job is that when you operate a dog or in any way try to help him or her, they die of old age or the severity of injury. Then, you feel very sad because you were not able to save someone's life. I know how I felt when my pet died. Then, the owners of that dog can blame you for the death of their dog and then they can even report you, even if you did everything in your power.
But, beside all that, I would love to do this job.

Anđela Beloš, VI2

I love studying science, so I would really want to be a chemist. It is a good job because I can help people.
Being a chemist is a very exciting and interesting job because you can make some medicine. I will work long hours and get a lot of money.
I would like to make medicine for some rare disease.
This job is humane, but the bad thing is that you need a lot of years and lots of patience to make some medicine.

Nađa Blažić, VI2

My dream job is to be a criminal technician.
The work of a criminal technician is interesting. Of curse, as in every job, there are good and bad things.
The good thing is that you work in an office but also outdoors. It is a good job because you help with light and heavy crimes.
The bad thing is that the technician sees and does different things, like people dying in various ways.
I would like to be a criminal technician because I think it is amazing.

Anja Ristić, VI2

When I grow up, I want to become a florist.
It is a great job for me, because I love flowers and different types of plants. I also love making baskets and decorating them with ribbons, paint and glitter. So cool!
This job does not require anything except good crafting skills and creativity, and you get paid a lot.
I like this job, because it seems fun and easy to do and you can earn a bunch of money.
