Following the model from our books, my Class 3 pupils have come up with some unusual means of transport that would take them to different parts of the world with their friends and family.
First of all, I'd like to welcome you to my blog. My intention's to make it a place for cherishing great memories of working with school children. Here you'll find some tips, projects done by my pupils, their essays and poems, video clips (I don't know if it's me, but my pupils really enjoy singing), and things that can be interesting and useful.

World Book Day 2023
We celebrated this year's World Book Day on 24 April. It was an excellent opportunity for the representatives of Class 6, 7 and 8 to share their book reviews, to play games and to encourage everyone to read more books.

Travel Magazine
My Class 5 and Class 7 pupils, divided in different international teams, have been very busy doing research as part of the eTwin World Travel Agency project.
First, they suggested a few landmarks in Serbia to be searched by their friends from other partner countries.
Then, they searched for and calculated the cost, transportation, accommodation in the chosen countries, and suggested what to see, eat and buy there.
As usual, my pupils especially enjoyed adding the clues for the collaborative online Guess the country game:
All the works were collected in an online suitcase of souvenirs, a brochure and a travel magazine started by one of the founders:

Slingshot Challenge
Lara has taken part in the National Geographic Slingshot Challenge and shared her solutions to the environmental problems in a one-minute video.
Although her video isn't among the finalists, I'm glad she's made this step towards the change.
Hello,
My name's Lara and I come from Serbia.
Today, I'm going to talk to you about global issues. As you can see, here are some notes that I'm going to use to present my plan.
Air, nature or water pollution, climate change and waste everywhere; these global issues are all connected.
Firstly, they are all caused by none other than humans!
How?, you may ask. Well, as you know and can see here, humans build factories. Factories make smoke which pollutes the air. They also throw out all kinds of toxic fluids into the rivers. After that, rivers flow into the seas, and the seas into the oceans. What's more, we use the same water that WE polluted to water the plants and as a drink.
Secondly, global issues cause numerous species to become endangered. Not to mention all kinds of diseases of both humans and animals.
One solution to these problems would be to put filters in factories so that they can clean the smoke before it goes into the atmosphere.
Another solution would be to build special pools that will clean the water before it goes into the rivers. If factories don't want to abide by these rules, then they should pay fines. If that doesn't help, then we should simply close the factories.
I hope that if we stick to it, we'll have a better, cleaner and greener planet.
Thank you for your attention!

Butterflies
Spring's finally arrived, and what better way to celebrate it than to talk about the nature and what kind of animals we find there.
My Class 3 pupils enjoyed reading about the life cycle of a butterfly and the follow-up cut-out task.
I also reminded them of Eric Carle's story about the very hungry caterpillar we read 2 years ago and the creative activities we did then.

Easter 2023
Later, I taught them a chant about Easter bunny, and gave them cut-outs, so they enjoyed colouring a paper Easter basket and eggs.

After a similar warm-up and the talk about Easter games in English-speaking countries and our country, my Class 3 pupils learned a modified version of the well-known Easter song about hot cross buns:
Hot cross buns, hot cross buns,
One a penny, two a penny,
Hot cross buns!
If you have no daughters,
Give them to your sons.
One a penny, two a penny,
Hot cross buns!
If you have no sons,
Give them all to me.
One a penny, two a penny,
Hot cross buns!

Hippo Memories
My Class 5 and Class 7 pupils who have taken part in Hippo Olympiads before have showed interest in sharing their experience with the others in this year's Hippo Essay Contest.
When I went to the HIPPO competition the first time I was so nervous. I was competing with the other kids, and thought that they were so much better than me.
I didn't go to the semi-finals. I was so mad at myself that I didn't study at all. I thought that I was the best at the competition but it turned out I wasn't.
Mihailo Demeter, V1
My favourite day was when I first went to Hippo competition two years ago.
At first I was really, really nervous and I was shaking. When I got inside the classroom I was stunned by how beautiful it was.
The tests were very easy but when it was time for listening, the speakers scared me so much because they were a bit too loud.
At the time I always wanted to show how much I loved English. I still love English and when I grow up I will go to the USA and become the biggest actress, and show my classmates who were laughing at me when I was in the first grade. I don't mean to be rude or to rub it in their faces, I just want to show them that anything is possible if you want it hard enough.
Ivana Popov, V1
When I first went to the Hippo Olympiad I was really nervous. I thought that I would be in last place and that I would not get to the next round.
The school competitions are easy but the town not really but I love to participate because it is fun.
My first Hippo experience was when my school hosted the town competition. It was nice. The Hippo competition for my grade was in the Math classroom.
I always love to participate in Hippo competitions. I like how the test can be reused for training other kids to go to the Hippo competition and how we just need to fill in the circles to mark the right answer on a different piece of paper.
Nikola Tomić, V2
When I competed in the HIPPO competition for the first time, I was nervous, but I practiced like crazy and at the end it was all worth it!
I have participated three times, and I got to the semi-finals twice. Unfortunately, I never made it to the finals, and I was sad about it, but on the other hand I was excited every time that I got to another level.
My first HIPPO competition was in 2019. I was nervous and scared, but after the results came, I was so thrilled and no one was happier than me.
Lara Avramov, VII2
When I first signed up for the Hippo competition four years ago, I was very happy because it was one of the competitions I really wanted to go to. Then, I was getting ready so much for it. However, when I arrived at the venue, I was very nervous and worried because it was my first time competing. I was wondering how everything would look like?
So far, I have competed in the Hippo competition three times. I was always satisfied with my results because I am sure that I will need English in the future.
