Earth Day

I've shared with my Class 4 students another activity I made in Edpuzzle. They need to answer the questions correctly to watch the rest of the read aloud story about Earth Day.

Inspired by the story, they made creative drawings and shared Save the Earth messages.

Uroš: Save the Earth, clean the forests, plant trees!
Lara: Clean Earth is the happy Earth!
Iva: We must save the planet because we have only one.
Mia: We must separate our trash and help our planet!
Jovana: Save the Earth! Recycle and plant trees!
Ana: Save the planet Earth! We live here!
Dragana: We must help the Earth!
Ognjen: Make every day Earth Day!
Dušan: By recycling, let's help our currently sad planet!

The Stay Home Superheroes

Thanks to one of the partners in the eTwinning project World Book Day, I've found out the story The Stay Home Superheroes by Sophie Marsh. I've shared it with my Class 4 students and asked them to read the story and find out their superpowers. Then, I've encouraged them to use their superhero creativity and share the fun things they are doing at home these days. They could also design their superhero masks or capes and share them with us. Here's the result:

Favourite Animals

With my Class 4 students I've recently revised the names of animals and introduced them to the comparison of short adjectives in English. I've included a short video, a song, different online games, and a video story about the Short-Necked Giraffe.

The worksheet I've made was my way of checking if and how much they understood the story. I've asked them to submit the screenshot showing the result, and they also shared their comments.

Later, I also asked them to describe their favourite animals and also include where they live, what they eat and what they can do.

The lion is my favourite animal. It lives in Africa. It's the big animal and it's got sharp teeth. It eats meat. It can run very fast to catch antelope. The lion is like a big cat, but it's more dangerous.

Lara Avramov, IV2

My favorite animal is cheetah. Cheetah is the fastest animal in the world. Cheetah is orange and black. It lives in Africa where it hunts small antelopes.

Bogdan Đurović, IV1

My favourite wild animal is a wolf. Wolf is the largest member of a dog family. The banded fur of a wolf is usually mottled with white, brown, gray, and black.

Jovana Karić, IV2

My favourite animal is a parrot. Parrots live in the jungle. They can be of all colors and feed on various seeds. They can fly very fast but not too long. Some parrots can talk.

Ognjen Orašanin, IV2

My favorite animal is a fish. Fish live solely in water. Some live in an aquarium, some in a river, lake, sea ... They can be different colors: yellow, blue, red, colorful. Some are striped, of various shapes and sizes. Some eat algae, some eat worms, flies, and some other fish. I like fish because there are fast ones and there are dangerous ones.

Easter Challenges

My Class 4 students accepted and enjoyed this year's Easter Challenges proposed by our eTwinning friends. In fact, I added a few more challenges and let them choose one on Tricider.

Lara made Easter bunnies using socks and paper rolls, Nikola decorated his Easter hat, Marko made an Easter Egg collage, Milana drew the Easter Bunny and put buttons and pencils on him, Jovana made an Easter mobile and used a hanger and ribbons to hang the symbols of Easter she made herself, Iva made an Easter card and used cotton wool for Bunny's ears and tail, Ognjen designed the Easter card, Ana made a pompom chick and designed an Easter basket, Staša talked to her great-grandmother and she told her how she coloured Easter eggs with natural dyes. Some of them are: onion peel, dandelion, nettle and smoketree leaves.
Mia baked tasty Easter muffins and shared her recipe:
To make these muffins you need:
375g flour
half spoon baking powder
25g cocoa
150g sugar
125g butter
250g milk
2 eggs
100g nutella
Have a nice meal!

Andrija drew and described his Easter Bunny with super powers.
This is my Easter bunny. His superpower is jumping high. He can fly, too.

I also created an online game - Easter Hunt which they enjoyed playing.

We created and sent our Easter e-cards, too. Here are just a few: Mia's, Lara's, Ana's, Bojana's, Jovana's, Nemanja's, Staša's, Iva's, Dušan's, and mine

Extreme Weekend

Hi,
I did something really amusing this weekend,  I need to tell you about it.
My friends and I decided to go to the ocean beach. When we got there we saw a man renting surfboards so we decided to take three of them. I have never surfed in my life, but I guess there’s a first time for everything. We have rushed to the ocean immediately, then jumped on our boards. It was marvelous. We had so much fun at the beginning, but we got really exhausted. We wanted to go back, but then realized that something was swimming under us. It was a shark-like creature. We weren’t sure if it was actually a shark. My friend and I were frightened. It was swimming in circles and it was slowly getting near us. Then a lifeguard shouted: ”Don’t worry, it’s just a dolphin! It’s really friendly that’s why he’s swimming so close!” We then started swimming quickly towards the beach. We packed our stuff and headed home, laughing. We will probably remember that day forever.

Everything will be all right!

With the whole world under lockdown, Italian children started painting colourful rainbows and putting them in their windows to connect with their friends, and to keep people's spirits up.
I've asked my Class 4 students to do the same, paint a rainbow, write 'Everything will be all right' in English and Serbian, and share a positive message with everyone.
