Christmas 2025

The two weeks before the winter holidays were full of fun and activity.

Pupils from Classes 1, 2 and 5 made cards for our friends in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Lithuania, Spain, Taiwan, Türkiye, and the USA.

In teams, my 7- and 8-years-olds enjoyed creating digital and animated cards (Merry Christmas and Snowman) which we later added to the collaborative calendar in the Art Class project, while my 11- and 12-year-olds worked together with their eTwinning friends on a digital card for the Skills 4 Life project.


The youngest children also designed their paper baubles as a class. 


To finish off the celebrations, Classes 2, 5, and 6 played Christmas quizzes and escape room games, which everyone loved.

Book Reports

 In teams of 3 to 4, my Class 6 pupils have recently read and presented their first graded readers. Most of them used previously prepared templates in Canva. After each presentation, I asked the listeners to give their classmates feedback using the 'Two Stars and a Wish ' method.

One Plastic Bag

 Year 6 pupils read the book One Plastic Bag by Miranda Paul together and explored its important message about plastic waste.

After reading, they talked about the story and completed the post-survey, where they answered comprehension questions and shared their own ideas.

Inspired by the book, they wrote a story from the point of view of a plastic bag. 

They illustrated their story using Storyboard That, combining words and pictures to bring their ideas to life in a shared ebook.


Through these activities, pupils practised reading comprehension, expressed their opinions, and used creativity to think about real solutions for plastic pollution.

How many?

This lively song is perfect for practising numbers and plurals, and my youngest pupils always love it. This time, they even added their own clipclop tongue sounds to imitate a horse’s gallop, which made the song extra fun.

Owlember 2025

Since small, longeared owls are the symbol of our town, I thought it would be fun to turn them into bookmarks. This generation of Class 2 enjoys reading, so the activity was a natural fit. With the help of several mums, pupils enjoyed a creative workshop and proudly designed their own owlthemed bookmarks.

Traditionally, Class 6 pupils took part in the World of LongEared Owls quiz. This year, however, I encouraged the girls to prepare a presentation for their classmates. The quiz that followed was a success.

Houses

We’ve just started exploring the rooms of a house, and to help my youngest pupils remember them, I guided them in making paper houses and invited them to fill each room with drawings of typical things they might find there.

This activity was a a big hit with one of my previous Class 1 groups, so I decided to bring it back for this generation as well—and they enjoyed it just as much!

The Lorax

 Year 6 pupils read The Lorax by Dr Seuss together, discussed its themes, and checked their understanding by answering quiz questions. 

Afterwards, they created a book report in Canva, added their own comprehension questions, and presented the story to their peers. To make their work more vivid, they illustrated it with AI‑generated images.

They also shared their favourite parts in polls.

Finally, they agreed on a wish for the planet and added it to the project's collaborative Wishing Tree.

Thanksgiving 2025

To begin our lesson, I asked my Class 1 pupils to share what makes them happy and what they feel thankful for in their lives. They mentioned their families as well as their homes, toys, pets, and food.

Next, I invited them to imagine a special holiday dedicated to giving thanks for all these things, and we talked about how they would celebrate it.

Afterwards, we watched a short video about how Americans came up with the idea of such a holiday. 

Finally, as a creative follow-up, I asked the pupils to trace their hand and use each finger to draw something they were thankful for. Here are some of their wonderful results.

EQL 2025

 The eTwinning European Quality Labels (a total of 13313) for numerous projects carried out during the 2024/25 school year were awarded on 26 November 2025. I'm proud to say that one of the projects I collaborated on with my pupils is among them - Sustainable Future: Our Actions, Our Impact.

English Quest

Exploring language and local life across Europe with familiar partners was the reason why I joined the English Quest project with my Class 5 pupils. Having collaborated with these schools several times before, we knew this project would be another chance to strengthen our teamwork and creativity.

We started with pre-surveys, introductions and logo design, followed by voting for the best school and project logos. Class 1 pupils voted for the best school logo. 


Pupils also worked on a promo video and later voted for the best one.

Tangram Challenge

 With the help of their parents and older siblings, Class 2 pupils recently cut tangram pieces out of their books and glued them onto the cardboard. 

After I showed them a few basic figures, we turned the activity into a fun competition. Working alone or in pairs, they tried to beat their own records. It was a bit tricky at first, but my 8yearolds soon enjoyed creating different figures such as a fish, rabbit, giraffe, swan, and cat.
