Language Play

As part of the Year of Friendship & Discovery project, Class 5 pupils took part in several fun language activities with their international friends.

They added lines to the collaborative acrostic poem, generated images to illustrate their partners’ chosen lines and then recorded their voices using ChatterPix Kids and Blabberize

They pretended to take part in a Spelling Bee contest, prepared by our Spanish friends. It was challenging, but they really enjoyed the experience.

The pupils also shared their favourite tongue twisters on the forum, bringing lots of laughter and friendly challenges.

Finally, they played the game prepared by our Bosnian partners and did their best to answer the questions as quickly as they could.

These activities showed that learning languages can be fun, creative, and full of laughter.

One Book, Many Languages

As part of our The Seagull and the Cat project, my younger pupils joined friends from Albania, Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Jordan, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, and Türkiye to create a story together.

Class 2 pupils illustrated the opening sentence of Part 1, Chapter 2. They added their picture and Serbian translation to StoryJumper and recorded their voices. They were very happy and proud to share their work.

Class 1 pupils illustrated the scene from Part 2, Chapter 5. They also added their picture and Serbian translation to StoryJumper and recorded their voices. They were excited and proud to hear their voices in the story.

It was a joyful experience for both classes. Their drawings and voices made the story come alive, and they showed great imagination and teamwork.

Alongside the book activities, Class 2 pupils also learned how to make paper bracelets. They carefully followed the instructions, drew the hearts and wrote the words: The Seagull and the Cat. Those who dare can fly. They enjoyed the task and felt proud of their creations.

Our Planet, Our Future

Class 5 pupils joined forces with their friends from the Year of Friendship & Discovery project to create a presentation about our environment. Together, they explored both the good sides—like clean air, trees, and recycling—and the bad sides, such as pollution, littering, and cutting down too many trees.

After sharing ideas, the pupils made their own promises for a greener future. They pledged to plant more trees, save water and energy, reduce waste, and protect nature in everyday life.

This activity showed them that even small steps can make a big difference.

Routines

Class 5 pupils worked together on a presentation about daily routines. They chose a Canva template and discussed how to describe a typical day, deciding which activities to include. They agreed on the text and illustrations, then shared their presentation in the Year of Friendship & Discovery project.

As part of the English Quest project Secret AI Mission: Routine Detectives, pupils helped an AI robot named AURA understand human life and traditions before it travels to different countries. They used Canva and Copilot to design their own robots. Soon we had both human‑looking and animal‑looking ones. Class 1 pupils examined all the designs and voted for the best. Marina’s cat robot dressed in white was chosen to represent our school.

In the forums, Class 5 pupils shared interesting details about their school life—their shifts, subjects, and facilities.

The Last Bear

Class 6 pupils read The Last Bear, reflected on its message of caring for nature, and checked vocabulary with Quizlet

As Change Makers and Future Savers, they joined forum discussions and suggested ways people can help animals and nature: not throwing rubbish, recycling, planting trees, keeping places clean, being kind to animals, and saving water.

As Eco‑Connectors, they linked the story to real life and proposed actions to protect the environment.

One group used Suno (Seasons in My Hands) and another the MakeBestMusic app to compose eco‑themed songs, including one about April and the bear (Love the Bear).

Through these activities, pupils discovered how reading can be fun, creative, and meaningful, while connecting literature to real‑life themes of sustainability and responsibility.

Healthy Lifestyles

Within the Skills 4 Life in My Hat project, Class 6 pupils explored healthy lifestyles in creative ways.

First, pupils completed the eating habits survey and showed what they usually eat and drink.

They read Alex’s story carefully and analysed the situation using the Six Thinking Hats method. With the White Hat, they searched for facts about healthy eating, discovered how much sugar is safe each day, and designed a colourful infographic called Fuel for Our Bodies! Then, with the Red Hat, they explored how emotions affect eating habits. They made an emotion map showing what they eat when they feel sad, happy, or bored, and wrote kind messages to remind themselves that healthy foods can cheer them up for longer. Next, they used the Black Hat to spot energy‑stealing foods like sodas, chips, and instant noodles, creating friendly warnings. With the Yellow Hat, they discovered the superpowers of healthy eating and made a superhero poster with fun slogans. Using the Green Hat, they invented healthy alternatives to fast food, creating “Power Balls” called Brain Boosters. With the Blue Hat, they created a healthy meal table with three main meals and two snacks.

Finally, pupils worked individually and in teams to design healthy menus, infographics, and posters in Canva.

One followed a Greek recipe for dakos salad and filmed the process.

In groups, they role‑played The Nutrition Code story.

To close the activity, they prepared riddles about healthy food and had fun guessing their international friends’ ones.

My Country on a Plate

As part of the English Quest project, Class 5 pupils collaborated on creating a cooking dictionary. Each school wrote several sentences with imperative verbs. My pupils wrote: Sprinkle the sugar on the cake, Grate the cheese for the pasta, and Flip the pancake in the pan. Pupils then illustrated their partners’ sentences using AI‑generated images in Canva.

To complete the activity, they chose a traditional local dish, prepared a short recipe card with ingredients, and filmed step‑by‑step cooking video instructions. This way, they practised English in a fun, creative way while sharing their local food traditions.

SID 2026

To celebrate this year's Safer Internet Day, my pupils from Classes 2, 5, and 6 took part in a variety of creative and collaborative activities, exploring how to stay safe, kind, and responsible online.

Class 2 pupils began by raising their hands to show how many of them use the Internet. They talked about the different ways they use it—playing games, watching videos, listening to songs, and learning. Afterwards, they added their sentences to a colourful joint poster in Canva. Together, they chose Copilot’s image of Zorba with a sailor’s hat and a seagull, and some recorded their sentences with ChatterPix Kids.

Class 5 pupils, as members of Explorers Squad and Respectful Rangers, joined a forum discussion on eSafety with friends from the Year of Friendship & Discovery project. They reflected on questions such as How do you protect yourself online? and What does being kind online mean to you? Their answers included:

  • Protect yourself by not sharing private data.
  • Being kind online means supporting others with positive words.
  • Do not share private data with strangers.
  • If someone threatens me, I tell my dad, and I never bully others.
  • If I am kind, others won’t attack me.
  • Be good.

They also added one more important rule—We never click on pop-up ads!—to a collaborative poster of eSafety rules with friends from the English Quest project.

Class 6 pupils took part in several creative and thought-provoking activities.

As part of the Green & Safe Online activity of the Green Pages project, they read fake news shared by their international friends, created their own examples, and exchanged them with others.

In mixed international teams of the Skills 4 Life in My Hat project, one group prepared drawings of eSafety tips with Copilot’s help (Be careful what you download), while others recorded rules with ChatterPix Kids (Keep your antivirus programme up to date. Avoid suspicious links. Don’t share personal information with strangers online.).

With their green hat on, one group recorded parts of a collaborative comic strip drama using ChatterPix Kids: We can stop the monster! Do not share personal information. Use strong passwords. Tell your parents or teacher. Think before you click!

Another group researched digital rights and responsibilities and suggested creative ways to run a positive digital campaign: Make fun posters. Share kind messages. Use hashtags like #BeKindOnline. Post videos that show respect. Create a digital comic strip about friends helping each other online.

One more group collaborated on an e-book of eSafety rules. They discussed different problems people face in the digital world (Warning! Virus detected!), gave advice (Never post your address or private pictures. Don’t try risky challenges you see in videos—report them instead.), and prepared posters using suggestions from partner schools (Turn off mindless scrolling – Turn on learning & creating).

As members of Future Savers, they answered a poll and shared comments on the forum about the good and bad sides of the Internet:

  • We should use the Internet, but we must be responsible for the consequences.
  • It is good if we use it for homework, but bad if we spend too much time playing games.
  • It is important to have limits for Internet use.

They also discussed eSafety rules while playing a collaborative game.

My pupils showed that learning about eSafety can be simple, creative, and fun when we work together.

Escape the Winter Day

As part of the English Quest project, partner schools added one location pin on a shared map. Each school then chose one partner and wrote 3–4 sentences in the Present Continuous, describing what they imagined the students were doing at that precise moment.

Finally, pupils solved grammar challenges in Escape the Winter Day, a game collaboratively prepared by partner teachers. This way, they practised grammar, shared ideas, and connected across schools in a fun and interactive way.

Our World and Space

As part of our Art Class project activities, each school shared their ideas, which our project founder brought together by creating a comic in the Pixton app. The comic, titled Our World and Space, was then converted into an e‑book, with all schools listed as contributors so that children could add their voices. Pupils proudly read parts of the story aloud and were thrilled with the results.

Festive Season Activities

My two Class 5 groups shared their festive spirit in different ways.

First, they talked about what they usually do in December and completed our December activities survey

Then, they wrote about their favorite traditions telling us what they enjoy most during the festive season.

Finally, they joined a collaborative writing activity, creating a comic about a travelling gingerbread man. Each partner prepared two panels, used the present simple with frequency adverbs, and illustrated their story.

These activities were part of our eTwinning projects English Quest and A Year of Friendship & Discovery.
