First of all, I'd like to welcome you to my blog. My intention's to make it a place for cherishing great memories of working with school children.
Here you'll find some tips, projects done by my pupils, their essays and poems, video clips (I don't know if it's me, but my pupils really enjoy singing), and things that can be interesting and useful.
All the photos, videos and pupils' work are published with permission.
All media are either original, free for use, or include credit to the source.
As usual, the lesson about Hallowe'en was a lot of fun for my pupils.
First, I introduced my youngest pupils to the holiday. Then, I asked them to imagine we celebrated Hallowe'en and to think about what kind of costume they would wear.

Finally, we learned the Knock, Knock song and used their drawings to record our own version.
In teams, my Class 4 pupils wrote short poems on the topic. First, each of them wrote down 4 things that came to their mind when they heard the word Hallowe'en. Later, in their chosen teams, they compared the words and used the most common ones to write 3-line poems. Each group read their poems aloud and received feedback from their peers.
On this day come scary ghosts, Jack-o’-lanterns made from pumpkin, Mummies are giving sweets.
Beetlejuice is in front of the doors, Zombie wants some candycorns, Wednesday goes trick-or-treating.
We love watching horror movies, Pumpkins are all around the house, We dress as ghosts and go trick-or-treating.
Writing a collaborative acrostic poem with their friends from Spain and Poland was a lot of fun for my Class 4 pupils. They added three lines starting with T (These views are amazing), E (Excellent trips, come on here!) and S (Something unique in each state).

When we compare one thing with another of a different kind, e.g. a person with an animal, we use a simile.
Think of the members of your family and try to use a simile for each of them to write a poem. Remember to find the words that rhyme or sound similar.
e.g. My mum is as busy as a bee. She always looks after my sister and me...
Sometimes my mum is as stubborn as a mule, Every day she makes a new rule. My dad is as strong as an ox, He has holes in his socks. In the morning I am as grumpy as a bear, Because I don't know what to wear.
To celebrate the beauty of spring, I've asked my pupils to go out, explore the nature, take photos and try to write Haiku poems. I've explained to them the rules of such poems and we read some examples.
The poems are published in an online collection, together with the poems of our eTwinning friends from Lithuania, Poland and Turkey:
Lara and Jovana found the next collaborative task in the Same Planet - Same Aim eTwinning project easy and fun. They were pretty inspired to add two lines starting with N (Now we're singing this happy song) and E (English is fun all day long) to what promised to be an interesting poem.
Sun is shining in the sky
And nature sings its hopeful song
My planet shines in my mind
Every day all the children say
Planet is my way
Learning English is full of magic
As it's like a wand makes us speak
Now we're singing this happy song
English is fun all day long
Time passed very fast
Students learned English on this path
And met new friends on the way.
My mind expanded while I was learning,
Enjoyed and used nice tools
Amazing moments we all shared
In online meetings with our schools.
Many activities we did in harmony.
Under the same sky in this project
New English words and sentences
Don't scare us now
Excellent works were created with collaboration
Remarkable progress did all the students in this project.
This was its main goal and object.
Have you imagined we would go so far?
English is more enjoyable with eTwinning project
Speaking with new other friends is great.
Amazing teachers we all have
Making all of us have a wonderful time.
Everybody in the project was like an angel
Speaking to them is lots of fun.
Knowing English is very pleasurable for us
Yeah, we took a long trip in English with great joy. Thanks to all.
Inspired by the L@ngu@ges4all! eTwinning project task, two of my 11-year-old students wrote their first poems in English:
If you're sad, I'll be over there, so you can come to me and tell me everything. I'll be with you until the end. My best friend!

Happiness sweet like a candy, smile as bright as a sun, a look that says your every thought, a touch that can fly to the sky like a butterfly, tears that leave scars, honesty lighter than snow, that is love.
Love is just like fire in your heart. The person that is the one you should love is like air, it keeps fire alive. People you should not love have ice in their hearts, your fire makes ice become water that kills your love. But always have hope, someone, the right one, can make your fire become alive again.
One of the tasks of our eTwinning project A Bridge Across the World was to record a poem by Sophia de Mello Breyner and share the video with our partners. A few girls from my Class VIII1 agreed to read the poem and in this way mark the centenary of the poet's birthday.
On 16 November, the International Day for Tolerance, my Class 7 students and I prepared a programme by which we wanted to say that we should respect and accept each other regardless of the differences, not only on this day, but always.
At the beginning of the programme, we showed a video survey conducted by my young journalists who asked our youngest students what tolerance is.
Later on, 5 teams of students from different classes participated in a fun-educational quiz, they listened to poems in Serbian, German and English, traditional Serbian songs and two students played the synthesizers and guitar. Our ballerinas also had their performance. In the end, we all treated ourselves with the cakes prepared by mums and grandmas.
We are glad that the children from the migrant centre also joined our programme.
The International Day for Tolerance was established on 16 November 1995 at the General Assembly of UNESCO. According to the Declaration, tolerance is the acceptance of the fact that "human beings, naturally different in appearance, position, speech, behavior and values, have the right to live and be what they are."
I've also created an event on eTwinning, invited all teachers to always promote tolerance, respect and dignity in their schools and asked them to share their activities on an online canvas.
So far from me
thousands of miles away
yet, you couldn't be closer to my heart,
Together we will rise above
please, return me, return me my faith in love!
Without hope, with desperate tears in my eyes,
alone in my sadness, no one to hear my cries.
Holding on to promise
bleeding drop by drop.
Hours passing by,
I can hear my heartbeats for you non-stop.
I hear how my soul screams for hope,
an open embrace, darkness pull me in.
Lonely, yet drawn to you,
while moonlight bathes my skin.
Now, I hear the silence,
suicidal feeling,
Lorning me to disaster,
but because of you,
my heart fights and beats faster.
