First of all, I'd like to welcome you to my blog. My intention's to make it a place for cherishing great memories of working with school children.
Here you'll find some tips, projects done by my pupils, their essays and poems, video clips (I don't know if it's me, but my pupils really enjoy singing), and things that can be interesting and useful.
All the photos, videos and pupils' work are published with permission.
All media are either original, free for use, or include credit to the source.
We've accepted this year's Empatico Community's challenge and organised various activities to raise awareness of environmental issues and the importance of taking care of our environment.
Class 3, Class 4 and Class 6 pupils have designed posters. Class 3 pupils have also created a 22-day Climate Action calendar. Class 8 pupils have discussed the seriousness of the global issues and ways of solving them.
This February, my pupils and I joined more than 170 classrooms from nearly 50 countries all over the world in exciting Empatico's World Languages Challenge that celebrated the diversity of languages.
It was a great opportunity for everyone to meet new friends and learn to greet each other in different languages.
Our last week before winter break started with online meeting with our Empatico friends from Italy and the visits of groups of pre-schoolers from different local kindergartens. Class 4 pupils prepared cards for their younger friends and sang their favourite songs in English, including the Rainbow Song, Do you like bananas? and Busy Week.
After the visits, both Class 3 and Class 4 pupils learned the traditional song about Christmas tree.
Class 4 pupils were also happy to sing some well-known songs about Father Christmas in Serbian and Hungarian, and say their favourite Christmas carols which we recorded and shared with our friends from different parts of the world.
A group of Class 4 girls also shared their New Year wishes and collaborated with their eTwinning friends on the poster by adding some snowflakes and Happy New Year in Cyrillic.
Class 3 pupils enjoyed designing their cards and snow globes which we later sent by post to our friends in Greece, Spain, Lithuania and New York.
Things come to those who wait! The cards from our friends in the Bronx, New York City, with their good wishes, have finally arrived, so I reminded my Class 2 pupils how far they had to travel to reach us.
With their chosen partners, my Class 2 pupils enjoyed creating cards for our eTwinning and Empatico friends.
They also sang a well-known Serbian song about Father Christmas which we later shared with our eTwinning friends in the STEAM with Fairy Tales project.
All my pupils had fun decorating their digital Christmas tree.
My older pupils collaborated on the New Year card with the other eTwinWorld Travel Agents.
Our friends from California shared with us their traditions and creative works of art, and we prepared for them the quiz inspired by the animated film Coco:
In our country, children learn the Cyrillic alphabet first and officially start learning Latin in Class 2. Although they haven't started learning it with their class teacher, we've recently covered the English alphabet in our lessons.
Thanks to Empatico, we've recently connected with schools in Anaheim and Bronx, the USA, and my Class 2 pupils were happy to introduce themselves to their new friends and share what they like. I recorded them in their classroom and in the school park.
