Stay at home!

These days we mustn't go out. We mustn't hug or shake hands with the others. We must stay at home. My Class 4 have shared their messages with our eTwinning friends.

It's important to stay at home, to keep us safe and also the people around us. Stay at home!
Vukašin Ćurčin, IV1

We mustn’t go out, because corona virus is very dangerous. We must protect ourselves.

Staša Blažić, IV2

We must stay at home because that is the way we fight against the virus corona. If you love your neighbour, stay at your home.

Iva Todorić, IV2

Stay at home to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Ognjen Orašanin, IV2

My Last Few Days

Being in a sort of isolation is not pleasant at all, but I'm glad my students are managing in this way or another.

Last week was the most boring in my life. Because of the epidemic, I can't go out of my house, I can't go out with my friends, I can't go for a walk ... I spend all day at home watching classes and watching movies. I spend time with my family only because they are in the house all day too. We play  games or talk. I get up late, go to bed late. Before going to bed, I talk to my friends and other relatives. I hope this epidemic will end quickly because I cannot stay at home
Aleksandra Sudarov, VIII1

My last few days were pretty dull. Usually I  watched TV shows and films, walked my dog and chatted with my friends. My friends and I were only talking about how much we miss each other and how we can’t wait to go back to school, if that even happens. I finished all of my exercise books for my exam. I finished them really fast because I was really bored and had nothing to do. Every day I played with my dog on my lawn.

Milica Jovanović, VIII1

I spent my last few days staying at home. I was usually drawing or doing my homework, while my sister was studying and having online classes with her faculty professors.
My mom was preparing the rest of the dinner when I helped her make pancakes two days ago. It was my first time making them, so I got not only experience, but a few burns.
I was often looking for my knitting needles, but I never seemed to find them.
I was always making sure to be moving while in the house, and I always tried to catch a moment to go outside, since these days was a privilege to have a backyard.
Nevertheless, I was never bored, and I always had something to do, either schoolwork, chores or hobbies.
Aleksandra Bajić, VIII1

Well, for the last few days i have been at home like my mom and realized this very seriously. I washed my hands very often.I was mostly inside and tried not to go out, but when I did I wore a mask and medical gloves.
Because of virus we didn't go to school and we had lessons on TV. I spent a lot of time learning and working on biology and history projects. Because I couldn't train, I did exercises at home, listened to music and watched series in my free time.I also helped my mom in preparing lunch and dinner.
I was not bored at home, I was busy all day. I wanted everything back to normal and to get back to training and school.

Anja Ristić, VIII2

Staying in the nature and training are the best physical activities, but due to the new situation it is forbidden to go out and train. Because of this, I try to organize myself to maintain my physical activity and health.
Staying at home for the last few  days was boring. As much as I was trying to have fun, nothing can replace hanging out with friends, training, cycling... I woke up early to have more time for all my daily activities. When I had had breakfast I tidied my room. Then my mom asked me to do some housework, such as ironing, washing the dishes... After all the housework, I did school projects on Google Classroom and helped my sister with her homework. Then I watched digital classes and wrote down the most important ones. In order to maintain my physical activity every afternoon with my mom and sister, I did muscle exercises. Since I had more free time I tried to spend it with my family so we watched movies and played board games. It was fun. Since I don't see my friends, we talked on the phone every night.
That's what my quarantine days look like. I can't wait for this to be over and I can visit my grandparents again, see my friends and spend time outside.
Nađa Blažić, VIII2

We are all aware that the new Corona virus has changed our daily lives. We all have to stick with some rules in order to be safe. That includes online school and social distancing.
In this period of my life I try to be as productive as I can and not waste my time watching my phone. Every morning I finish my homework so I can be more organized throughout the day. Other things that I like doing are cleaning my room, so I can get rid of the things and clothes that I don't need.
The better side of this whole situation is that I can spend more time with my family. We like watching movies in the evening and playing board games.

Marina Lovrić, VIII2

For the last few days, I've been doing the same things. When I get up in the morning I get dressed and eat. Then I play games with my friends online, watch TV classes and do homework. I watch a movie with my family in the evenings and it's like that every day. Sometimes I do some training exercises in the house and sometimes I go outside. Mostly I get bored, but sometimes I find a way yo have fun.

Uroš Ćirić, VIII3

Everything has changed since they discovered that there were people infected with COVID-19  in Serbia. There are rigorous rules and restrictions that we must all follow. Life is very different.
I've spent the last few days in the house. In the morning I went to the store wearing a mask and gloves. Then it was time to do y homework. My older brother and I did our homework on a laptop by taking turns. While I was practising the piano he was finishing his homework. Then I listened to my classes on TV for two hours. After that, my brother was listening to his classes while I was having a class with a piano teacher. I had music theory classes for high school enrollment. In addition to all this, I washed my hands a hundred times yesterday.
I miss my classmates and some teachers. I miss walking to school. I'm tired of phones and laptops and washing my hands and wearing protective gear every time I go out.

Anđela Mičik, VIII4

I really haven't done much these days. I mean, it is expected because of the COVID-19, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have interesting stories.
For a long time I was spending my days in my home with my parents and that was it. I sometimes played card games and watched TV with them, but I didn’t do anything else besides the usual. I couldn't visit my grandparents and I just stayed at home while playing video games and watching classes on TV.
But 3 days ago, even though I shouldn’t have done it, I decided to walk around for like an hour a day around my neighborhood and surrounding streets. This changed a lot because I could get a bit of fresh air while everything was closed. This meant I saw what the streets looked like when there was nobody walking, driving or riding a bike. It meant I saw a lot of chirping birds and elegant cats. This was semi-surprising because I did expect that there would be cats and birds, but I didn’t expect how many there would be. It was more eventful than I thought.
How were your days? Hopefully they weren’t boring or bad.

My favourite sandwich

I've recently asked my Class 4 students to share the recipes of their favourite sandwich. They could use this game as a model.

My favourite sandwich is with ham. I eat one every day for dinner. This is how I make it. I take a piece of bread, spread some cheese, put some ham and ketchup. I put my sandwich on my plate and then I eat it.

Lara Avramov, IV2

My favourite sandwich is with bread, sour cream, ham, cheese and green salad. First, you need to get a piece of bread and spread some sour cream and add ham. Wash some salad and put it on ham and add some cheese. Then just put on one more piece of bread and enjoy your sandwich.

Jovana Karić, IV2

My favourite sandwich is with onion, bread, toast, cheese, mustard, baked salami, ketchup and mayo. I put all this between two pieces of bread.

Ognjen Orašanin, IV2

Take a piece of bread. Spread some butter. Put two pieces of cheese and some chicken.  I like this sandwich!

Teodora Nikolin, IV2

I usually eat this sandwich for dinner. I make it the next way.
On a piece of bread, I spread the butter, and on the other side I put some ketchup. I put salami and cheese, too. I close it and put it in the sandwich machine.
That's my favorite sandwich!

Vukašin Ćurčin, IV1

My favourite sandwich is a hot sandwich. I make it this way.
Take two pieces of bread. Spread some cheese, put some bacon and salad. Put your sandwich on your plate.

Bogdan Đurović, IV1

My favourite sandwich is Peanut Butter Jelly. This is how i make it.
I grab two slices of bread and spread some peanut butter on one side, then on the other slice I spread some jelly.

Stefan Vujin, IV4
I've also created the e-collection of these recipes.

Film Reviews

One of my favourite films is the first part of the 'Captain America' trilogy.
It is called 'Captain America: The First Avenger.' The main roles are played by Chris Evans, who is also famous for another Marvel film, 'Fantastic Four', Sebastian Stan for his roles in 'Gossip Girl' and 'Kings', and Hayley Atwell. It is an American superhero film, based on Marvel's comics character Captain America.
The movie is set in the times during World War II, where Steve Rogers, a skinny man with many health diseases, becomes Captain America, who must stop the Red Skull, who wants world domination.
I like the fact that almost every actor chosen for their role extremely resembles the comic book characters. It is like the people were made for their roles. The acting was amazing, as it has many funny and also serious moments. The CGI was overall fantastic and the soundtrack was perfect.
It is one of the better films I have watched. I recommend it to everyone who likes science fiction and Marvel comics.

Aleksandra Bajić, VIII1

My favorite film is “Midnight sun”. It is an American film directed by Scott Speer. The main actors are Bella Thorne, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Rob Riggle.
The movie is about a girl called Katie who has a rare illness and must not go out in the sun, or else she will die. She finally meets the boy Charlie she fell in love with when she was a kid, looking at him through the window. After a few nights out, she decides to admit to him that she is ill.
In this film I especially liked the sad music and special effects. In my opinion the actors did a great job and enjoyed their roles amazingly.
If you like sad and romantic movies, I recommend you to watch this perfect film.

Ratka Sokola, VIII1

My favourite film/cartoon is the animated film “Isle of Dogs”. To start with “Isle of Dogs” is a film created with the unusual stop-motion technique. Basically, you take a puppet, place it into a setting, and take a shot with camera. Then you move a puppet a little bit and take another shot.
The story is really interesting. In the not-so-distant future, a dog-flu virus spreads across the city of Megasaki, Japan. The city’s mayor Kobayashi orders to send all dogs to Trash Island. To make an example, the first dog to be exiled is Kobayashi’s dog Spots. Kobayashi has a foster child, Atari–a boy with a stubborn and strong-willed character. It turns out that Spots was Atari’s bodyguard dog, and in order to find him, Atari hijacks a plane and sets off to Trash Island.
I liked that almost all the characters but dogs speak in Japanese. The voiceover translation was provided only when it was necessary for understanding the plot. Other than that, you can only guess what the characters are talking about. And I think this is a perfect solution for the movie that tells the story from the perspective of dogs.
This is as far as I can go without spoiling the pleasure of you watching “Isle of Dogs” on your own.

CD Reviews

One of my favorite artists is Chen, a Korean musician in a k-pop group called EXO. He's a fantastic singer because his voice is extremely stable and he has almost no ends in the genres he can sing. He's also a good person and his good looks just come as a plus.
My favorite album by him is called 'Dear My Dear.'
I mostly don't like slow, emotional love songs since my favourite genre is pop rock, but this album is the only exception. I never get bored of listening to it, as it holds such a deep meaning.
In this album, Chen sings about his love. The lyrics are cheesy and lovely, as well as meaningful.
The album as a whole is like sitting at the beach while looking at the sunset. It's very comforting and peaceful.
Those light tunes and amazing vocals of Chen's will always make me feel at ease. I recommend it to everyone who likes emotional music.

Aleksandra Bajić, VIII1

My favorite album is Tyler, the creator’s IGOR. The album is about heartbreak, but the bright chords and melodies suggest hope, not self-pity. IGOR sounds like the work of a perfectionist giving shape to his more revolutionary ideas. I fancy all of the songs on this album, but these are my preferred ones. On the song “EARFQUAKE”, Tyler blames himself for the unstable state of his relationship. My second, and the last one, favorite song is  “ARE WE STILL FRIENDS?”. This song is the album’s rough and sweet send-off, it’s Tyler’s final try at recovering his relationship. I suggest you listen to this album because it has at least one song for anyone’s taste and it’s surprisingly inspirational. Tyler has another amazing album called “Flower Boy”, you should check it out too.

Eager Beavers

Groups of my Class 4.1 students took part in this interesting eTwinning project aimed at 7-9 year olds who, thanks to interesting activities, learned more about beavers, how to look after the environment and stay safe online.
As usual, in the first activity all the students and teachers introduced themselves.

Made with Padlet
Then, the students drew the logo of the project, containing the flag of the country, individually or in pairs.

The chosen logos were later put together to make one common logo.

Organised in teams, the students exchanged English idioms with their peers from different countries and made drawings. My students asked the other teams to illustrate these idioms: Have your head in the clouds, Hold your horses, and Have a whale of a time. They liked what they saw, and chose to illustrate: Better late than never, The teacher's pet, Have a green thumb, suggested by Italian teams, and Have eyes in the back of your head, suggested by a Spanish team.

We did research and found out that in the first half of the 19th century you could see a lot of beavers in the wetlands and along the banks of the Sava, Danube and Morava rivers in Serbia. Then, at the beginning of the 20th century there weren't any. A couple of years ago, Zasavica Special Nature Reserve received around 30 beavers as a gift from the Bavarian Science Society.

My students also enjoyed playing the games about English idioms created by teachers.

Finally, they collaborated on the e-book about beavers. They invented six stories, so different international teams collaborated on one.

HIPPO 2020

Two groups of my students took part in the preliminary round of this year's HIPPO Olympiad organised on 29 February. The exam consisted of reading and listening tasks, and there was also a test on the use of English.
