My Last Birthday

  • When did you celebrate your last birthday?
  • What did you do before the party? Did you write the invitations? How many friends did you invite? Did you have a birthday cake? Who made / bought it?
  • When did your guests come to your party? What presents did you get? What was your favourite one? What did you and your friends do at the party? Did you blow out the candles?
  • Did you have a good time?

I celebrated my last birthday on 14 August 2020.
I invited ten friends. My mom made a fruit cake with biscuits, and bought some snacks.    My best friend Sara came first, and together we welcomed the other guests. When they came, we talked about a lot of topics. Then, we did a homemade performance, we played music and danced.

World Water Day 2021

Living in a town whose tap water has colour, smell and taste, everything that the water isn't supposed to have, it's no wonder that my Class 5 students show concern.

I shared with them a video and asked them to share their thoughts about the importance of water, what it means to them and what they can do to save it:

For me water is a source of life. Without water life on the planet would not be possible. We will save water by not releasing toxins into the water. By using it sparingly. We will not throw waste in it.

Lara Avramov, V2

Water means life. No one can live without water. It serves for the life of all living beings. Water is used in industry, traffic, household. So we have to keep it. We have to preserve nature. All our waste will  eventually go to rivers and seas. We must not throw rubbish on the streets and in the woods. And our factories should take care of that. They must not throw waste into our rivers. We all have to save water because it means life.

Tea Balaž, V1

For me, water is the basis of every living being. Without it, our planet would be deserted. Regardless of its importance, people are ruthlessly polluting it. In Kikinda, the water we have is not drinkable. For me, water is the healthiest drink. I order to preserve it, we must not pollute it. It should remain clean for future generations.

Nikola Borić, V2

For me, water is a reason why all of us are alive. Without water, there would be no life on our planet. So, why would we pollute it and waste it? We need to be thankful for it. By polluting water, we are poisoning ourselves. I think that in order to save water we should not waste it while some people don't have enough water to live a healthy life.

Jovana Karić, V2

Water is all around us and we need it for life. It is very important and we can't live without it. We use it for drinking, washing and a lot more things.

Aleksa Vincić, V1

Water is the most important for our lives on the Earth. We must save water and nature . Clean water is the best what nature gives to us, and we must be thankful for that. Don't waste water!

Iva Todorić, V2

Water is the source of nature. Without it, we would not have a way to feed, the plants would not be able to grow, and some animals would not be able to live. We should not throw garbage into the water and we should save it.

Teodora Nikolin, V2

For me water is something very important in my life. I like it the most in terms of fun. I like to bathe in it and drink it. Water is my favorite drink. It is full of minerals and vitamins. Water is the source of nature. We all use it every day.

Mia Pavlov, V2

Water means life to me. It is very important for all people, animals and plants. We must keep water clean because we want healthy food, healthy people and healthy animals. We must take care and keep the water clean.

My Birthday Party

Do you remember your birthday party before Covid? Write about it. Organise your writing into 4 paragraphs:
Paragraph 1: When did you celebrate your last birthday?
Paragraph 2: What did you do before the party? Did you write the invitations? How many friends did you invite? Did you have a birthday cake? Who made / bought it?
Paragraph 3: When did your guests come to your party? What presents did you get? What was your favourite one? What did you and your friends do at the party? Did you blow out the candles?
Paragraph 4: Did you have a good time?

I am lucky because I successfully celebrated my birthday in 2020 and in 2021. Covid started in March and my birthday is on February 22nd. But, there are a lot of differences between my 10th and 11th birthday. On my 10th birthday I invited more friends than I could on my 11th birthday because of the situation we are in now.
Before my birthday party I sent invitations to the guests and made a cake with my mom. I invited about ten friends.
Me and my friends played a board game, hide and seek and many more fun games. I got many gifts. I can't say which one is my favourite, because they are all wonderful and perfect in their own way. My family got me  a magic wand that looks exactly as Hermione Granger's.

Everyone made me happy.
My grandmother surprised me the most. She bought me an electric scooter. The party was beautiful. It lasted for three hours.

Lots Of Socks

My youngest students and I joined the Lots Of Socks campaign, aimed at raising awareness of Down syndrome.

We talked about our differences and similarities, and realised that our differences in fact make our lives more beautiful and interesting.

Rooster's Off to See the World

Before we read the story about the rooster off to see the world by Eric Carle, I asked my 7-year-olds to guess and draw the animals he meets on his trip. Most of them drew their favourite animals, a dog, a cat, a rabbit, a wolf, a fox, even a tiger.

Later, we did a bit of Maths, and counted the legs and heads of the animals. It was a lot of fun.
