Robots

My Class 4 pupils have recently had a fun and creative writing lesson.

I asked them to imagine themselves as robot designers and write about their very own robots. It was a great way to practise words for body parts, colours, and everyday activities.

We started with a mind map on the board. Together, we came up with what their writing should include: name, appearance, character, material, skills, and price. They copied the mind map into their notebooks and picked the words they wanted—for example, big or small, metal or plastic, helpful or funny.

Then, each pupil wrote a short paragraph describing their robot. A few volunteers read theirs aloud and received positive feedback.

My Robot

Imagine you are a robot designer. Describe your robot.

The following questions may help you:

  • What is the robot's name?
  • What does it look like? Is it big or small? What colour is it? Is it shiny or not? Does it wear any clothes? Has it got arms, legs and eyes? How big are they? What colour are they?
  • What is your robot like? Cheerful, serious...?
  • What is it made of? Metal, steel, plastic, recyclable material...?
  • What can it do?
  • Who is it for?
  • How can you order it? How much does it cost?
Have you ever heard of Bliblob? Well, now you have!
Bliblob is small, shaped like a snowman with no legs and two arms that look like snowman’s branches. The first thing you see when you look at him, is his big, black, shiny eyes. Bliblob changes colour depending on his emotions (in the beginning, he couldn't feel them, but since he's almost always next to humans, Bliblob started to act ... like a human in some ways). He's usually pink, due to the fact he's often happy. But he can be blue when he is sad, orange when he’s mad and angry, green when anxious etc. He isn't shiny neither he wears any clothes. When I programmed him, I thought of giving him clothes but it would look weird if a pink, snowman-shaped, cute robot wore clothes. Bliblob is made out of metal. Since he is pretty kind and good-hearted (and childish, because he absolutely loves balloons), he can help you with your homework and stuff like that. But, he is programmed to be able to talk in many languages and to be intelligent. Due to his intelligence, he helps me on my missions and fights against the villains and tells me if my plan won't work or if it would end up badly. He was meant to be sold, but he really grew to my heart so I don't see selling him in the future. He is my friend.

I hope I will become a robot creator one day. I like playing science-fiction games about the future world with a lot of inventions and robots. I think every house will have one or more robots.
My robot's name is the Tin Man and he is not big. He is colourful and very shiny. My robot doesn't wear any clothes because he has got a lot of buttons. He has got big eyes, three long arms and five short legs. His arms are silver, and his legs are silver, too.
My robot is funny and friendly, but sometimes he can be very serious.
The Tin Man is made of steel and iron.
He can solve difficult problems. He can run fast and he can climb fast, too. He can speak a lot of languages and he talks a lot. He tells others how they should behave when they meet aliens. The Tin Man can repair things in the house like computers, fridges, cookers and TVs. My robot can play board games with me and my family.
You can order this robot online. He is very expensive but he can make you happy and solve all difficult problems that you can't do yourself.

Miladin Božin, VI3

She is made of metal and runs on batteries. She cooks anything anyone wants.
To order this robot, contact me. The robot costs 500e.

Robots

Robot Maid 300

My robot's name will be Robot Maid 300. He will be very useful to both lazy and hard-working people. The robot will be able to cook meals, tidy rooms, play with kids and serve them. But people will need to feed him. He will eat trash. Also, he will be able to fix things around the home.  He will be expensive, around 20,000 dollars. Robot Maid 300 is the best solution to save time and relax.

Robot Baby-sitter

If you are busy all day and haven't got too much time for your children, you could get a robot baby-sitter.
This robot is ideal for employed parents who have a lot of work and can't be with their children. The robot looks like a young woman. It can be a cook, comedian or teacher. It cooks meals, makes drinks, helps children with their homework and the most important thing, plays with them. It costs £40,000 and you can buy it over the Internet.
Actually, this robot is expensive, but for that money, it's very useful.

Tijana Varađanin, VIII2

Eva 1

My robot is called Eva 1, after the first woman in the world.
She is made of titanium with the latest sensors. The titanium skeleton is covered with artificial skin and it looks like a real person. She can hear and see and has the ability to talk. Eva 1 has artificial intelligence. She can help with children, housework and things like that.
Eva 1 costs over 1,000 euros. Eva 1 is expensive but has all the possibilities you need and you will not regret the day you bought her.

Future Robot

If I had a robot, he would be called John. He would do all the housework. He would make my bed and do my homework. He would tidy my room and scattered books. My life would be much easier and relaxed. In the house of my grandma, I would wash the car and John would cut the grass. I would enjoy his company. In the evening, I would go shopping and buy pizza. we would eat it together. I would change his batteries regularly.
